Instructor Approval Criteria

For Instructors of Non-credit Bearing Courses and Workshops

Education ECE: A minimum of Level III in the NJ Registry with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or 60 credits in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of 6 credits in Early childhood Education and 9 credits in related courses.

SA: A minimum of Level III in the NJ Registry with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Recreation, or related Child Development Field or 60 credits with a minimum of 6 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Recreation and 9 credits in related courses.
ECE: A minimum of Level IV in the NJ Registry, with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education or the equivalent, with a minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education.

SA: A minimum of Level IV in the NJ Registry, with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Recreation or the equivalent, with a minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Recreation.
ECE: A minimum of Level VI in the NJ Registry, with a Masters in Education with an early childhood concentration in either a Master's or Bachelor's program.

SA: A minimum of Level VI in the NJ Registry, with a Master's in Education or Administration in a related field, with a concentration in either a Master's or Bachelor's program in Early childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Recreation.
Work Experience with Children ECE: A minimum of 3 years full time work experience with 1 of those years after completing the above educational requirement. The work needs to be directly with children in a regulated early childhood setting.

SA: A minimum of 3 school years of work experience with 1 of those years after completing the above educational requirement. The work needs to be directly with children in a regulated or approved K-8 school-age setting.
ECE: A minimum of 3 years full time work experience, two of which need to have been directly with children in a regulated early childhood setting. Additional years may have been spent in an administrative position directly related to a regulated early childhood setting.

SA: A minimum of 3 years full time work experience with 1 year completed after the Bachelor's Degree. The work needs to be directly with children in a regulated or approved K-8 school-age setting or in an administrative position directly related to a regulated or approved K-8 school-age setting.
ECE: A minimum of 3 years full time work experience, two of which need to have been directly with children in a regulated early childhood setting. Additional years may have been spent in an administrative position directly related to a regulated early childhood setting.

SA: A minimum of 3 years full time work experience. The work needs to be directly with children in a regulated or approved K-8 school-age setting or in an administrative position directly related to a regulated or approved school-age setting.
Work Experience as an Instructor ECE and SA: A minimum of 40 clock hours within the past 5 years responsible for the professional development of adults, presenting at conferences, workshops or staff in-service training; including courses for credit or non-credit. ECE and SA: A minimum of 100 clock hours within the past 5 years responsible for the professional development of adults, presenting at conferences, workshops or staff in-service training; including courses for credit or non-credit. ECE and SA: A minimum of 300 clock hours within the past 5 years responsible for the professional development of adults, presenting at conferences, workshops or staff in-service training; including courses for credit or non-credit.
