Directors' Academy

Many child care program directors have indicated a need for information on how to better support staff and address the management issues associated with increasingly demanding program plans, facilities improvement and contractual agreements.

The Directors' Academy has been designed to respond to this need.

The Academy, funded by the New Jersey Department of Human Services and administered by Professional Impact NJ (formerly New Jersey Professional Development Center for Early Care and Education), will provide a 45-hour course on child care administration for directors of child care centers that are contracted to provide preschool services in Abbott school districts and directors working in centers participating in the Accreditation Facilitation Project (AFP).Funding opportunities are also available to other directors who work in Abbott districts, Early Childhood Program Aid (ECPA) districts and Early Launch to Literacy Initiative (ELLI) districts.   Funding for these directors is limited to those who have not attained bachelor's degrees.

 

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Planning and evaluation
  • Fiscal management and legal issues
  • Marketing and public relations
  • Staff management and professional development
  • Educational programming
  • Facilities management
  • Leadership and advocacy
  • Family support and community resources
